The Spiritual Life and Worship Commission (SLWC) is a group of parishioners who meet approximately 6 times per year to initiate, nurture, and promote activities of the parish which foster spiritual growth. The SLWC is comprised of up to 15 members who serve one or two years with staggered terms. Parishioners are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the activities and meetings of the SLWC.
The SLWC has welcomed the challenge of planning a monthly activity that meets the short and long term spiritual needs of the parish. Some of these activities are the: Stations of the Cross (different format each Friday of Lent), Patriotic Rosary, Parish Mission, Lenten and Advent Activities (i.e., evening prayer, selling prayer books for spiritual growth, and children’s prayer materials), and the Holy Ground Coffee House.
A new activity from the SLWC is the Holy Ground Coffee House which attracts parishioners, families, and friends in the community. The Coffee House is an opportunity for prayer, song, and celebration. Special guests provide an opportunity to learn about our faith and commitment to God. Past guests have included the Crossroads Walkers on their journey across the country supporting the pro-life movement; St. Peter (an actor) celebrated our parish feast day; and a commemoration of Our Lady of Guadalupe’s feast day. This relaxing and entertaining evening is an opportunity to acquire food for the mind, soul, and body.
