READINGS: Acts 10: 34a, 37-43, Psalm 118
Colossians 3: 1-4, John 20: 1-9
It’s Easter! The Lord is risen! Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! Now, what does that mean for us?
We’ve spent the last few nights with the Lord. Holy Thursday, we were with him as he gave that final witness to the true meaning of the Christian life. He called us to wash the feet of our neighbor, being a complete servant for the other. He gave us the Eucharist to sustain us with it’s constant grace handed over and poured out, shaken down and running over. He gave us the Ordained Priesthood so that he can be with us always in his sacraments. Do we long to serve? Do we long for his grace? Do we want to be with him as greatly as he wants to be with us?
Good Friday we saw the power of his love. We walked with him to Calvary and watched him die for us. Have we allowed his love to change our lives?
Now, today, the tomb is empty. Death has no power over us anymore.
What does Jesus empty tomb mean to us? Is it for this life only that we live? Have we, through our Lenten sacrifices, changed our hearts and minds to follow more closely the Lord? Do we really believe that there is life after death? How do we want to spend eternity? Do we long to be raised from the dead?
We have participated in Jesus’ life, passion, death and resurrection. What does that mean to us?
